We cannot start the week without an encouraging word. Actually we cannot start the DAY without an encouraging word. As I read my bible this morning, God reminded me that 

" For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth,  are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

Sometimes, the daily distractions will have you confused. " Do I go left or right?, Up or down? Eat now or later?" With what feels like 101 things to accomplish in a day, sometimes we feel as though we may as well stand still. Sometimes important decisions can overwhelm us and we just want to run away.

Well God told me to not be afraid, although this life doesnt always make sense, my life is in His hands ( which I know) and sometimes I wont always understand what is going on, but that HIS ways are WAY above mine..and that HIS thoughts are WAY above mine. So I need to be still ( in my mind and heart ) and let God be God.

This scripture can speak to you in many ways and not just your day to runnings. You could be fighting with an issue that you cannot see an end to..but God is on the THRONE...and our finite minds cannot comprehend His infinite ways...

Challenge Me - A U-Turn

I took a week off writing on the blog to really check myself. We should all do that once in a while. With all the distractions that we face on a daily basis and the priorities we have.. things can become a little discombobulated to say the least. Things became a little much for me and so I took a step back to see what I could change in my life to make it all line up, per se. 

Well, I found that the blog was taking up too much of my time, not just writing it, but researching the content. Yet, I still love doing it and do not want to give it up. It wasn't that I got lazy but being a full-time wife and mother, I didn't want to steer my sights way from my first priorities and ministry. So after much prayer and thought, I can honestly say I am going to be taking TalithaZye in a slightly different direction.

A Right Motive

 Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NKJV)

 ¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.

This scripture is a real encourager. The first part of this scripture talks about your motive whilst doing an action. Where your heart should be when doing what you are doing. Whether it be school work, employment, house work, your speech, your thoughts or whatever the case may be . Colossians 3:17 puts it simply

^"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."  Every action undertaken should be done to God's glory.We need to give thanks. This can be hard, but it cannot be as hard as what Job went through when he lost EVERYTHING. Yet he said "You giveth and you taketh away, but blessed be the name of the Lord" (Job 1:21).

As you glorify God you are walking in a way that pleases God.

With regards to the word "might" in the scripture, it talks about aiming for excellence and doing your best. Romans 12: 11 tells us "Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit and serving the Lord"and Colossians 3:23 says "Whatever you do, do it hearty, as to the Lord and not to man"  We must make sure that we do what we do with a cheerful spirit and with the aim of pleasing God  and not man. Pleasing our heavenly father should be our number one objective.  Just like a little child trying so hard to please his/her parents. This shows others who you serve.

So the question is, what do your actions show? Who are you serving and what example are you setting?

How to Coupon

Mid-way through 2007, I heard about people saving a lot of money on grocery shopping via using coupons. I am all about saving money so I tried. I bought the Sunday paper, cut the coupons and waited until I went to the grocery store to buy what I needed. Well I only managed to save $2-$3 and it really wasnt worth it.

FASTFORWARD 2 years, now I am saving at least 50% - 80% at the cash register. THIS IS HOW!!

First there is no real set way on couponing. After reading websites and watching at least 20 youtube videos. I have my own methods which works for me. You are welcome to do as I do, but please feel free to "re-mix" it if you want.

Today's show and tell is focused on an online business called Jazzy Diaper Cake. It is a wonderful concept in my opinion because it is a gift that not only looks wonderful but will come in useful. I was given a Jazzy Diaper Cake as a gift for baby shower and even though the sex of my daughter had not been disclosed, the end product was amazing, I loved it. This is the primary reason why I am sharing this information with you today.

In the recent months, I have taken to reading more and reading for less. This means I am either paying nothing for the books I am reading, or paying a very small price for the books I am reading. 

In doing that, I figured I would share the books I read with you. I am not here to down grade a book or give books a bad review. It's just not my "cup of tea". I would just prefer not to mention it.

So today, I would like to share on of the first books I read this summer. I did pay for this one, primarily because I know who the story is about and because the price was discounted and cheap. The book I speak of is "Twice Dead, The True Death and Life Story of Roman Gutierrez" by David J.Drum.

Okay not everyone is happy.. but let us be joyful that we have been blessed with another day. The ability to breathe is a privalege and everyone said....AMEN!!! 

With that said, I would like to apologise for not having written anything on Friday...something urgent came up and I wasnt not by my computer all day.. at least not to have enough time to write something with substance.

Naturally Rooted

HAIR? What Hair...lol

Today's wellness concept is that of natural hair. I have noticed in the last few years black females are going back to their natural hair. There have been many reasons for this change such as wanting to appreciate the hair God gave them, being tired of using chemicals or just wanting to take a breather from the "norm".

Norm being the hair style they have worn for many years.

My hair is natural. I had cut my hair when I was 18 and loved my natural texture. But I looked so young, I looked younger than my younger sister who was 5 years younger. It really wasn't that much of an issue for me, it was the fact that I was being over looked when it came to being hired after graduation.

Just before graduation

So when I turned 23, I cut my neck lenght hair off. I was tired of having the usual "bob" hairstyle. So I told my hairstylist, whom I trusted with a pair of scissors, to do whatever she wanted. She was apprehensive at first, but when she got into it. She did a great job.

All 3 angles should help you see the transformation.

 

Since then, I moved to the USA and I couldn't find anyone to refer me to a hairdresser. So I out grew this lovely hair cut. And just grew it long.

 

In 2008, my now husband proposed to me and so I had a wedding to prepare. I had no time for my hair and so I began to wear my hair in braids and other easy to handle hair does. In between such styles, I began cutting my straight hair inch by inch and gradually I had none left. Now I am back to having my hair in the natural hair do.

 

I am now a mother and for me my hair and hairstyles no longer lie on my priority list, which is not good. I still take care of my hair, now even better than before. Thanks to the internet I am able to research products, ingredients and hair routines. Its amazing what you can find on you tube..lol. I was also inspired by my younger sister to actually take care of my hair by all the information she was feeding me.

 

I now have a number of friends on this haircare journey, whom if they allow me to, I will share their journeys to. Next week, Ill have my sisters take on it..can't wait.

I read this scripture this morning and I found it to be very powerful. King Hezekiah was intimidated by his enemy who had threatened him and told him that he would take over his kingdom. Basically saying that the God he served, was like the gods of the other nations he had destroyed. These words shook him.

Well-Done Thursday

For a long time now, people have been more aware of what they eat, do and what they expose themselves to There is an aim to become a better person both in and out. Some visit the gym, some read more, some eat less, some eat more, some take vitamins and some just take time to look around and acknowledge the wonders of God's work. Creation.

Well that's what Thursdays are about, taking the time to do better, feel better, see better and live better. As a HR graduate I learnt about the term "Work-Life Balance". Not everyone has that. Some feel that they have to keep working to support their families, a lifestyle or whatever the case may be. And they are correct you have to work to support yourself. The Bible says;

"For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living" 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12

I know a lot of you can agree with this statement. But for those who don't understand it, which is fine, what this means is that it is better to be harshly disapproved or criticized by a person who is wise ( and know what he/she is talking about) then to listen to the song or words (because songs tend to make us feel good) of a person who is foolish (and doesn't have a clue).

The Gospel Changes Lives - Pt. 2

Yesterday, I offered the Gospel to you. The hope in Christ we have. 

Today I give you my testimony. I wouldn't be a witness if I never had one....so here goes.

I am 28 now with a wonderful husband of almost 2 years (4 weeks to go), and a  beautiful 7 month old daughter, whom I love both very much. I have such great friends, with big hearts and who love and care for me. I no longer hoard bitterness, I am saved and in my right mind. I am not writing all this because I am prideful, but I  do so to give God the glory for all my blessings.

Tuesday is the day we explore entertainment. More accurately fun, clean entertainment. I am all about saving money, so it will more than likely be cheap and cheerful or require someone giving me cash back.

As of late, I have been visiting the library very often and whilst doing so avoiding late fees. This helps with saving money. It makes for great entertainment and I would encourage every and anyone to check out the library regardless of where you are on this planet if its possible. 

CD's, books and DVD's are the primary things you can loan from the library. But this week, i found out that my county has access to a site where I can learn a new language for free, all I have to do is enter my library number. THAT EASY! In most cases you can even surf the internet at the library. There may be a time restriction, so that others may use the facility, but its still Free.

The Gospel Changes Lives - Pt. 1

The Gospel Message: 

I am 28 years old and have been a Christian for 6.5 years. Anyone who is born again, will know that as a Christian we have been commissioned to share the Gospel with everyone. I am here to share the Gospel with you.

"For God so loved the world that he gave His only son, so that one who believed in Him would not perish but have eternal life. God didn't send His son to this world to condemn it. He did it to save it" John 3:16 - 17 NIV

Save it from what? Before I answer that question, allow me to get the wheels in your mind turning.
