Todays Words Wealth - Who are you listening to?

"It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, then for a man to hear the song of fools"    Ecc 7:5 NKJV

I know a lot of you can agree with this statement. But for those who don't understand it, which is fine, what this means is that it is better to be harshly disapproved or criticized by a person who is wise ( and know what he/she is talking about) then to listen to the song or words (because songs tend to make us feel good) of a person who is foolish (and doesn't have a clue).

I would like to say that most of us would agree theoretically, but if we are honest sometimes we look for the fool to agree with us, so that we feel good, look good or sound good. In actual fact we are even more foolish for doing so.

I laugh because sometimes my pride gets in the way and when I am alone,I get convicted and eventually heed the word of the wise. Some old school mothers say " Those who don't listen must feel". And you know its true. But it shouldn't be. We should just list. God put His word before us so that we could become more wise and make better decisions. He gave us wise people in our lives so that we can stay on the straight and narrow.

My advice? Heed the Word. How much better is well-intended constructive criticism from a wise person, even if it hurts to receive it?

Stay Blessed
